Wyssen Universal Carriage
The Wyssen Universal carriage is a compact, radio-controlled carriage for 2- and 3-cable cable crane systems working uphill, downhill or horizontally, with a 3,000 kg load capacity, a large haul-back line drum and cable safety brakes on the mainline and haul-back line.

Overview
The Wyssen Universal carriage runs on 2- or 3-cable systems working uphill, downhill or horizontally. It is compact and made of high-strength steel, like all Wyssen carriages, and its large haul-back line drum gives a spool-out length of 136 m for an 11 mm haul-back line.
Safety and clamping
Two cable safety brakes, one on the mainline and one on the haul-back line, clamp immediately and stop the carriage if a cable breaks. They can be deactivated depending on the type of operation. The carriage also has a mainline clamp, so it can be driven anywhere with a half-lowered load.
To clamp to the skyline, the carriage is stopped at, or slowly driven to, the position and clamped with a button on the radio. The hook must first be raised slightly before the load can be lowered, and if the hook is fully retracted the skyline clamp opens automatically.
Radio control
The carriage is controlled with the normal portable radio, the same as every new Wyssen carriage, and every parameter can be adjusted through Wyssen’s own control system, the same one as on the slackpuller. It can also be fitted into the mobile cable crane’s control system, and a conventional timer-switch control is available. A 12 V, 50 Ah battery powers it, and the battery status shows on the carriage’s display.
The storage drum
The storage drum for the haul-back line is very large, for cables of 8 to 13 mm. It is coiled mechanically, and can be refilled at any time while a load is being lowered, using an extra button on the radio. A warning tone sounds if the drum is nearly empty or overfilled, and the hook comes out automatically even for horizontal or downhill transport.

The control system is built into the Universal carriage, and also into the Slackpuller carriage, the Motorised Skyline Crane and the W-30, W-40 and W-90 cable winches.
