Wimmer AB 1300 Drilling Rig

8+ tonnes

The Wimmer AB 1300 is a lightweight universal drilling carriage that fits crawler and mobile excavators over 8 tonnes, with 360° rotation, 90° tilt and radio remote control as standard, for percussion drilling up to 63 mm, rotary and down-the-hole drilling up to 135 mm and anchor drilling with injection up to 89 mm.

  • Light universal drilling carriage for crawler and mobile excavators over 8 t
  • 360° rotation and 90° tilt, so every drilling position is possible
  • Radio remote control as standard, with proportionally controlled drilling functions
  • Percussion drilling up to 63 mm, rotary and down-the-hole drilling up to 135 mm, anchor drilling with injection up to 89 mm
  • Own power supply, so no electrical connections are needed on the excavator

Overview

The Wimmer AB 1300 is a light universal drilling carriage that mounts on a crawler or mobile excavator over 8 tonnes. It rotates through 360° and tilts through 90°, so every drilling position is possible, and it has its own power supply, so the excavator needs no electrical connections. A radio remote control is standard, with the drilling functions controlled proportionally.

What it drills

The AB 1300 does percussion drilling up to 63 mm, rotary and down-the-hole drilling up to 135 mm, and anchor drilling with injection up to 89 mm. Wimmer’s attachable drilling rigs are used in special civil engineering, tunnel construction, quarries and slope work, for drill and blast, drill and split and anchor drilling.

Protecting the drill steel

Standard equipment includes automatic empty-hammer (blank-firing) protection, a cavity safety device, an anti-fixed-drilling device and soft drilling, which protect the drill steel and the drill bits. The profile is a stable, lightweight high-performance section, and the Wimmer Cockpit drilling data analysis is available.

Drill hammer and rotary head choices

Each configuration pairs the carriage with a different drill hammer or rotary head:

  • MA100 drill hammer: motors of 500, 1,000 or 1,200 Nm, for drill and blast with extension rods, anchor drilling and drill and split.
  • ID 160 rotary head: up to 1,600 Nm, for rotary drilling with pneumatic percussion and down-the-hole drilling.
  • RD106 drill hammer: up to 160 Nm, for drill and blast without extension rods and drill and split.
  • WHL300 drill hammer: up to 400 Nm, for drill and blast and drill and split.
  • WHL300-14 and WHL300-18 drill hammers: up to 1,480 and 1,840 Nm, for drill and blast, drill and split and anchor drilling with self-drilling anchors.
  • RH2X drill hammer: up to 2,120 Nm, switchable to 1,060 Nm, for impact drilling, drill and blast and anchor drilling. The RH2X-D rotary head version is for simple rotary drilling, overburden drilling and down-the-hole drilling.

Options

  • Climb version, with a longer mast feed (780 mm against 550 mm)
  • Angle indication
  • Automatic PLC control with depth measurement
  • Wimmer Cockpit drilling data analysis
  • Clamp and breaking devices, including a double clamp
  • Suction foot

Choosing a configuration

The table gives each configuration’s drill hammer, torque, the excavator it needs, oil supply, weight and drill rod lengths. The hydraulic values in the table are not for setting the excavator’s hydraulics: use the excavator’s own instructions for that.

Quick answers

What size excavator does it need? More than 8 tonnes for the T-5 PH / D, T-1 and T-20 D, more than 10 tonnes for the T-4 and T-20, and more than 12 tonnes for the T-14, 18.

Does it need a power supply from the excavator? No. It has its own power supply, so no electrical connections are needed.
