Dynaset HG Hydraulic Generator

Overview

Dynaset’s HG hydraulic generator turns a machine’s own hydraulics into electricity for any AC-powered tool or appliance. Fitted to an excavator, loader, tractor, truck, van or vessel, it supplies power on board, even while driving, so there’s no separate generator to tow to site or socket to find.

Uses

The HG runs electric tools, lights, heaters, coolers, welders, submersible pumps and induction heaters, drives three-phase motors, gives back-up power and handles plastic welding. With a compatible charger it recharges the batteries of electric vehicles and machinery, and it powers rescue elevators in fire and emergency work.

How it works

Hydraulic oil from the carrier’s pressure line drives the generator’s integrated hydraulic motor, the generator turns the oil flow and pressure into electricity, and the oil returns to the carrier’s tank. The output is a pure sine wave, so lights don’t flicker and appliances run without noise, and the hydraulic motor keeps operating sound low.

Protection and control

Every standard model has automatic frequency control, and every model from 6.5 kVA up has voltage control as well. Overload protection, a safety leakage relay and a residual current circuit breaker come as standard, with 3-pin or 5-pin sockets and an optional fuse and socket box. Depending on the model, the generators are rated IP23, IP54 or NEMA 3.

Series

The standard 50 Hz Super Compact series runs from 3.5 to 80 kVA, and the IP54 Blue Hydraulics series from 4.1 to 30.1 kVA; both are in the table below, the IP54 models marked “(IP54)”. Dynaset also builds 60 Hz models, DC models of 1 and 2 kW at 14 or 28 V, and units up to 350 kVA, and supplies them in any voltage.

Choosing a size

Each model needs a minimum oil flow at a given pressure, so the size depends on the output you need and what the carrier’s hydraulics can supply. The table gives each model’s output, voltage, current, sockets, oil flow and pressure, size and weight; voltage and current are single-phase / three-phase, and sockets single-phase / three-phase / cable connection (K).
