Synthetic winch rope from a ropemaker of 1904
Jakob Rope Systems has been making rope in Trubschachen, in Switzerland’s Emmental valley, since Hans Jakob founded the business there in 1904. It started with hemp rope for local farmers, added its own wire rope production in 1953, and has been run by the third generation of the family since 1984. The company still manufactures at Trubschachen, with a second plant in Vietnam since 2003.
Jakob’s Dyneema winch rope is made for forestry winches, in diameters from 8 to 20 mm. It’s far lighter than steel wire, so pulling the line out to the stem is much less work, especially uphill. It stands up to being dragged over ground, stumps and rock, and a damaged end can be spliced on site instead of taking the winch out of action until a new rope arrives.
Exc@v8 supplies Jakob’s Dyneema winch rope across the UK and Ireland, including replacement rope. Tell us your winch and the diameter you need.
