Civil engineering plant usually assumes a haul road, a level working platform and dry ground. Many sites have none of these: embankments and cuttings, riverbanks and reservoirs, sites with no vehicle access, and urban plots boxed in by services and kerbs. Exc@v8’s civils work centres on Menzi Muck walking excavators, which climb slopes beyond 45° without tethering, wade in water over 2 m deep and narrow their track to fit confined sites: 8-tonne agility with 30-tonne power. Around them sit drill rigs, cable cranes, access platforms, dumpers and wheel-loader attachments.
Civils work runs across several of our sectors, so start with the job in front of you: Tunnel, Highway, Drill, Marine, Power, Fire or Airport.

Inaccessible Areas
Menzi Muck all-terrain mobile excavators are the ultimate machines for providing power and safety to the most inaccessible of areas, and Exc@v8 have a great deal of experience in delivering and supporting these machines throughout complex works taking place in inhospitable areas. With the ability to work on gradients of 45 degrees unassisted and more than 70 degrees with winch assistance, climb vertical steps of over 5 metres and wade in water over 2 metres deep — all whilst carrying work tools more commonly found on excavators of over twice their size — the Menzi Muck is a true high-output, access-all-areas machine. Whether it be routine land or river maintenance, remote construction, demolition or remediation, or rapid-response emergency landslip or flooding containment and stabilisation, the Menzi Muck is up to any task and will reliably provide high performance in any situation.

Remote Access
Remote site? No road access? Need a solution that leaves not a mark on the floor? Wish you could fly everything in and out? The Woodliner cable crane is the perfect solution for you. The Woodliner is a radio remote-controlled, self-propelled carriage that enables all-terrain operation without a mainline, auxiliary or haulback rope. It is very well suited for steep-terrain removal of timber in conjunction with a combination yarder or other rope systems, but can also be used effectively in mountain and steep-slope construction and remediation projects, remote-access material supply, and on projects where conventional cranes lack the radius or capacity to cope with demand — reservoir construction and maintenance, for example. It can be used for uphill transport but excels at horizontal and downhill transport, providing a three-tonne lifting capacity from an internal winch with up to 80 metres of rope capacity, and can travel horizontally almost any distance across the worksite or along the haulway.

Drilling
Exc@v8 supply the world-renowned brands of drills, drilling equipment and accessories from companies including EuroDrill, Morath and Wimmer. Devastatingly powerful on even a standard excavator, these drills and masts gain another dimension when partnered with a Menzi Muck mobile or crawler excavator. Providing huge output in a compact, lightweight and flexible package, the Menzi Muck machines can carry the largest of drills directly to even the most difficult of locations, upping production considerably compared with more traditional methods. Combined with the intelligent Menzi W135M mooring winch, a drill-configured Menzi Muck can safely work in remote locations, traverse the steepest of slopes and even self-supply with drill rods and other materials, all while minimising operator fatigue and maximising output.

Inspection & Repair
Developed in response to market demand for a true go-anywhere 'spider lift', the Menzi Puma 42GTX is the most extreme access platform ever built. Built with the technical know-how of German boom manufacturer Teupen, the Puma 42GTX combines the four-wheel-steered adaptable chassis and powerful upper structure of the Menzi Muck M545 with huge power outputs and oil flows, letting it travel to work sites across terrain no other access platform could attempt, and set up on steep gradients and undulating ground at any angle. With a colossal 42 metres of vertical uplift and up to 16 metres of horizontal outreach with a basket payload of up to 400 kg, it enables access to structures and geological worksites almost anywhere — without the haul road and infrastructure conventional methods require. From power lines and pylons to turbines, transmitters, bridges, towers, quarry faces and railway embankments, the Menzi Puma 42GTX redefines what is possible.

Direct Vision Dumper
The direct-vision Menzi Muck 65RD overcomes the standard visibility challenges faced by dumpers across the market. Its 180-degree rotating cabin lets the operator change viewing position quickly, safely and easily at the touch of a button, with full-depth glass doors and an additional camera system ensuring blind spots become a thing of the past. The highest power in its class and high road speeds ensure efficient hauling over long distances, and the rotating high-tip skip gives the perfect off-loading position every time. Available with a variety of bodies and huge auxiliary hydraulic flows for powering attachments such as snow-blowers, wood chippers and flail mowers, the Menzi Muck 65RD is the safest dumper and highest-output tool-carrier chassis in its class.

Wheel Loader Attachments

Alongside their durable, heavy-duty excavator attachments, Gjerstad are renowned for wheel loader attachments and have manufactured high-quality wheel loader equipment for over 50 years — from quick couplers and straight-edged buckets to spade-nosed buckets, block forks and buckets, container rotating forks, snowploughs, sand-spreading buckets, telescopic lifting arms/jibs and the globally known heavy-duty side-tipping buckets. Gjerstad manufacture everything a wheel loader needs, to a quality that is second to none. Buy Gjerstad — buy once.

Steep Terrain
With its variable chassis, the Menzi Muck is at home even on the most severe gradients. With over 50 years of steep-terrain heritage, it relishes every moment of high-altitude and severe-gradient work — capable of slopes in excess of 45 degrees untethered, and beyond the limits of imagination when combined with a winch. Menzi Muck walking excavators work quickly and safely on slopes of all types, and are the key to efficiency, profitability and uptime on every kind of project.

Reservoir Works
Reservoir and water-related infrastructure construction, maintenance and repair have long been areas where the Menzi Muck excels. With a wading depth of over 2 metres, an adaptive chassis that works effectively on bankings, spillways and gradients, and a large working envelope with huge pick-and-carry capacities, Menzi Muck equipment have long been favourites of reservoir construction and maintenance teams — regularly used for debris removal, emergency repairs, dredging works and grate maintenance on the most severe of gradients. Coupled to the intelligent Menzi W135M mooring winch, Menzi Muck machines can safely manoeuvre on steep concrete spillways, their large rubber tyres causing no damage to the surface below while enhancing safety and saving time.
