The company that invented the cable crane
Wyssen Seilbahnen has built cable crane systems in Reichenbach, Switzerland since 1926 — and invented the category: founder Jakob Wyssen built the first cable crane for timber harvesting at the end of the 1930s. The company is still family-owned, run by his grandson since 2010, with systems working in more than 60 countries.
The range covers cable winches from the compact W-10 up to the W-200, the carriages that run on them, motorised skyline cranes and smaller plantation cableways. Software, electronics, design, manufacture and service are all handled in-house — which matters on a system where the winch, the carriage and the control have to behave as one machine rather than three bought separately.
The same systems are used beyond forestry by cableway contractors on mountain railway, pipeline and bridge work.
Exc@v8 supplies the Wyssen range across the UK and Ireland.

Universal Carriage
The Wyssen Universal carriage is a compact, radio-controlled carriage for 2- and 3-cable cable crane systems working uphill, downhill or horizontally, with a 3,000 kg load capacity, a large haul-back line drum and cable safety brakes on the mainline and haul-back line.
