Overview
Gjerstad’s quick couplers for excavators run from the G30, for machines of 0.5 to 2 tonnes, up to the G90 for 35 to 55 tonnes. Gjerstad designs them to be simple and secure to use, and the hydraulic connection is entirely hose-free, so tools connect and disconnect without dealing with heavy hoses. Locking and safety
The locking system uses wedges that minimise movement and wear, and indicator bars show clearly whether the wedges are locked or unlocked. Built-in springs keep pressure on the wedges.
Several features keep the tool attached if something goes wrong. The Secure Lip stops the tool falling off if the coupling fails, and a hose rupture valve built into the cylinder keeps the tool in place even if hydraulic pressure from the machine drops.
Heavy duty and severe duty
The table marks each coupler HD or SD. A Gjerstad heavy duty (HD) coupler has one wedge against the rear axle. A severe duty (SD) coupler has two wedges, one against the rear axle and one against the front axle.
Wheel digger couplers
The table also includes two couplers for wheel diggers (wheeled excavators): a hydraulic G05 and a mechanical C05, both severe duty, for machines of 10 to 20 tonnes. They are marked “wheel digger” in the table.

Match the coupler to the excavator’s weight. The table below gives Gjerstad’s recommended weight class for each size, along with the approximate weight of the coupler and its part number.
