Jakob Dyneema Rope Plus Forestry Winch Rope

Overview

Dyneema Rope Plus comes in seven diameters, 8–20 mm, with minimum breaking loads of 90–320 kN. It is made for forestry winches.

How it compares with steel wire

A 12 mm Dyneema Rope Plus weighs 0.094 kg per metre and is rated 145 kN. Jakob’s 12 mm steel wire ropes weigh 0.56–0.76 kg per metre and are rated 100–137 kN. So the line is far lighter than steel wire, and easier to pull out to the stem.

Splicing

The rope can be readily spliced. Jakob offers two loop finishes with it: a loop spliced, tucked and tapered, and a loop with a steel thimble, also spliced, tucked and tapered.

Sizes

The table gives each diameter’s Jakob article number, minimum breaking load and weight. The minimum breaking load is the load at which the rope is rated to break, not a working load. Jakob makes other sizes on request.
