Overview
The Steelwrist X32 is a tiltrotator for larger excavators between 25 and 33 tonnes. It is designed for power and durability at this size, with a low building height, a high tilt angle and a strong strength-to-weight ratio thanks to steel cast components. Exc@v8 supplies it in the UK.
Where the X32 fits
The X32 suits heavy-duty work in road building, foundation digging, earthmoving and demolition on large construction projects. It lets the excavator rotate a work tool 360° and tilt it 45° in each direction, with precise control.
A sandwich configuration is often chosen at this excavator size: a quick coupler is mounted on the excavator arm, so the tiltrotator can be disconnected and a work tool picked up and connected directly.
Couplers and mounting
The X32 connects to the excavator through an S70, SQ70, SQ70/55, S80 or SQ80 top, or Direct Fit (DF). The tool side takes S70, SQ70, SQ70/55, S80 and SQ80 quick couplers, following Steelwrist’s symmetrical S-standard. Steelwrist SQ is its automatic oil connection technology for changing and connecting hydraulic work tools.
S-type tiltrotators from S50 upwards can be upgraded to SQ-type at a later stage.
A Direct Fit unit takes pin diameters of 60–90 mm at pin distances of 440–530 mm, fits a dipper arm up to 414 mm wide and includes an 8-tonne lifting hook.
The X32 is also available with Verachtert (CW) coupler interface. With Verachtert (CW) the tiltrotator always has a Direct Fit configuration.

Work tool safety
The tool-side safety solution depends on the coupler: Front Pin Lock (FPL), a mechanical lock of the front shaft that significantly limits the risk of an unintended work tool drop on the S70, SQ70, S80 and SQ80; LockSense, a patented wireless sensor system for secure work tool locking that keeps cables and connectors out of the harsh environment on the SQ70/55.
Hydraulics and control
The X32 runs on an oil flow of 128 l/min at up to 210 bar. A tiltrotator with high flow hydraulics lets the excavator run more fuel-efficiently and make efficient use of high flow work tools, and the Absolute Rotation sensor in the high flow swivel gives accurate data to machine control systems.
The tiltrotator is delivered with a control system that fits the excavator, whether it needs a two or four hose solution. Steelwrist supplies two types: the QuantumConnect platform, which includes the InstallMate and QuantumConnect apps and stays up to date through its connectivity, and the more basic four hose proportional machine control.
Options
A gripper cassette with a finger gripper can be fitted to give the excavator more flexibility when handling objects, and can be retrofitted. Steelwrist also offers central lubrication fitted at the factory, compatible with all central lubrication systems on the market.
