Overview

The Seve S500 is a forestry shear head for hydraulic excavators from 18 to 30 tonnes, built for intensive work. It cuts hardwood up to 550 mm in nominal diameter, or 700 mm at maximum capacity, with a precise cut. Exc@v8 is the sole UK importer of Seve.

Cutting performance

The S500 has a hydraulic system with a speed valve as standard. Its specific cutting geometry and steel-reinforced blades give a long service life in demanding conditions. The double-blade system cuts more efficiently, reduces blade wear and deformation, and spares the carrier machine.

Fitting and working with it

Light for its capacity, the S500 suits hydraulic excavators from 18 to 30 tonnes, and a mounting system made to measure for each machine allows quick installation. The accumulator arm is included as standard and improves production rates, particularly with small timber.

  • The head can be mounted with or without rotation.
  • With the optional continuous 360° rotation, it can place its cuts precisely, even in enclosed areas, which improves manoeuvrability in dense forest.
  • Its solid, balanced design suits sensitive or wet ground, and its low weight keeps the excavator’s movements quick.
  • Outside the forest, it can also be used at roadsides and in hard-to-reach places, or to remove dangerous trees safely.

Maintenance

The S500’s components are quickly accessible in the field. The wear parts are made of abrasion-resistant steel and can be replaced without complex disassembly, which reduces running costs, and the blades adjust easily.

Options

Options let the head be fitted to the job: a complete rotation module (adding 400 kg) with a double hydraulic motor, continuous 360° rotation through a high-flow rotary joint, a machine interface made to suit, and a CAN-bus box between the head and the excavator, needing no additional line; compatibility with tiltrotators of all makes; and wireless control of the low-flow lines.

Where it is used

  • Commercial harvesting: clear-cutting or thinning for firewood or industrial timber.
  • Urban forests: safe pruning in sensitive areas.
  • Electrical corridors: removing trees that threaten lines.
  • Ecological restoration: clearing dead or invasive species.

Quick answers

What size excavator is the S500 for? Hydraulic excavators from 18 to 30 tonnes.

What can it cut? Hardwood up to 550 mm in nominal diameter, and up to 700 mm at maximum capacity.

What hydraulic supply does it need? A main line flow of 120 to 200 l/min at 250 to 300 bar, and an auxiliary line flow of 40 to 70 l/min.

Can it rotate? Yes. Continuous 360° rotation is available with the optional rotation module, which adds 400 kg.

Can I buy the S500 in the UK? Yes. Exc@v8 is the sole UK importer of Seve. Use the form below or call us for pricing and availability.
