Pfanzelt Felix Specialist Forestry Tractor
The Pfanzelt Felix is a specialist forestry tractor that works as a skidder, forwarder, clam-bunk machine or combined machine, in two versions: the four-wheel 208.5 and the six-wheel 214.5, both with Pfanzelt's hydra2POWER drive and a rotating XXL cab.
hydra2POWER drive
Pfanzelt's own hydrostatic drive, with one drive unit per axle and no Cardan shaft, and permanent all-wheel drive with a hydraulic longitudinal differential.

Rear section and configurations
The Felix’s cab sits right at the front, which gives a clear view over the short bonnet and a good approach angle onto the trail, and leaves the rear section free for the cable winches, crane and clam bunk or stanchion basket, so heavy timber in the crane or clam bunk does not tip the machine and the weight is well distributed on rough ground. On the V configuration, the telescopic central spar lengthens the rear section hydraulically by 1,200 mm, from a short chassis for long timber to a longer one for short logs, and Pfanzelt’s quick-change system converts the stanchion cage to a clam bunk without tools. The 208.5 comes in three configurations (F, K and V), the 214.5 in two (K and V); the loading bed row in the technical data shows how they differ.

hydra2POWER drive
Pfanzelt’s own hydra2POWER traction drive has two hydraulic pumps and motors, one drive unit per axle, with no Cardan shaft. Permanent all-wheel drive with a hydraulic longitudinal differential gives full traction, and because the front and rear do not lock against each other when chains or tracks are fitted to one axle only, tyre wear and fuel use stay low. The 45° wide-angle hydraulic motors run efficiently, and the electronic control sets the driving characteristics for on- and off-road work, so the machine can be manoeuvred precisely on steep slopes with the accelerator alone.

Combined steering
The Felix combines articulated steering with stub-axle steering on the rear section. On the road, the steering wheel operates the articulated steering only; in the forest, the combined steering is used, including a parallel (crab) mode that drives the machine sideways out of a ditch and spreads the load on wet ground.

Working on slopes
The roller block is hydraulically height-adjustable for working on steep slopes, with guide tubes protecting the winch cables up to the infeed roller. On the 208.5, the stanchion basket can optionally be tilted sideways to shift the centre of gravity when driving across a slope.

XXL cab and service
The air-suspended XXL cab has over 7 m² of glass, an operator station that rotates electrically through 320° with all controls on the seat, a fold-away steering column, a separate terminal for road travel and an optional passenger seat. The engine, transmission and main hydraulics sit under the cab, with service openings that need no tools. The Felix travels between sites on the road at up to 40 km/h.
