M525B-TM

The M525B-TM is Exc@v8's own bespoke tunnelling conversion of the Menzi Muck M525 walking excavator, built to construct escalator barrels and passageways deep below London.

Overview

Exc@v8 uniquely configured and prepared the M525B-TM to work deep below London, building escalator barrels and passageways in an uphill excavation format long considered too difficult to attempt. The conversion added a 4-claw bi-directional chassis, an uprated wrap-around FOPS cage, fire-suppression equipment and fire-retardant oils, and 60,000 lumens of lighting, for a machine working in the most arduous conditions on projects bringing additional capacity to London’s underground rail network.

Exc@v8 has also configured M540 Powerline machines for major infrastructure work, including the Crossrail Western Tunnels and Caverns project at Bond Street and Farringdon, and the Victoria Station Upgrade. This page is a case study of Exc@v8’s own conversion capability rather than a current specification — enquire to discuss what’s possible for a similar project.
