Steep-slope harvesting

On steep ground the limit is the machine, not the timber. A conventional harvester can only hold so much gradient, and on wet or unstable faces it reaches that limit early. Steep-slope harvesting uses carriers built for that ground: walking excavators, which can work slopes a tracked machine can’t, and harvesters tethered to a winch that holds them on the face, each fitted with a harvester head matched to the carrier and the size of timber.

Exc@v8 supplies Menzi Muck walking excavators for this work, specifies the head and tooling for the site, and adapts standard machines in-house when the job needs it.
